CHESTER — CMELD defers power-supply contract decision pending vendor response. The Chester Municipal Electric Light Department Commissioners, meeting December 10, requested written clarification from both Energy New England and MMWEC regarding transition costs and timeline before choosing between the vendors for 2026. Manager Diane Hall was directed to contact ENE on its contract language and financial obligations should CMELD switch; she will also ask MMWEC for written confirmation it can assume management of CMELD's three 2026 energy contracts currently handled by ENE.

The board will decide between vendors once responses arrive. In other business, the Commissioners approved a one-time payment discount for a ratepayer while tabling administrative assistant Rosanne McClaflin's salary-increase request pending 2026 financial review.
