Water Commission approves 11.2 percent rate increase for FY27.

CHESTER — The Chester Water Commission approved a $199,500 FY27 Water Enterprise Budget backed by an 11.2 percent water rate increase effective April 1, 2026. Chairman James M. Zimmerman and member Bob Daley voted unanimously to accept the budget and prior meeting minutes.

The Commission also unanimously approved a wage increase for water department employee Isaiah Solitario from $23.18 to $24.50 per hour, retroactive to January 1, 2026, following his water license upgrade. Daley reported the Commission is pursuing grant-writing support from UMass, seeking cost estimates for restoring access to Horn Pond, and monitoring Becket Conservation's land acquisition and Congressional funding opportunities.
